  1. It's Super Bowl week, and to celebrate, athletic retail company Lids released its top-selling NFL merchandise for 2022. For the second year in a row, Kyle Pitts, the tight end for the Atlanta Falcons, had the top-selling football jersey. Lids released its annual report for the best-selling NFL jerseys by state – Pitts' No. 8 jersey was the best-seller in Georgia. (The Falcoholic)
  2. On Tuesday, the House Energy, Telecommunications and Utilities Committee voted to advance a bill requiring companies that install solar panels at residences to be certified by the state Public Service Commission. "We want this industry to flourish; solar is a big part of where we’re going, but we want to get the bad actors out,” said Rep. Joseph Gullett, a Dallas Republican sponsoring the bill. (WABE 90.1 FM)
  3. The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and Technical Services Unit were recognized by Marshal Bureau Chief Trevor Hess and Animal Control Director Aileen Culberson earlier this week. The departments were recognized for their hard work regarding a recent dog fighting and animal cruelty case."It’s only with teamwork like this that success in a case of this nature could be obtained," the sheriff's office's Facebook post read.   5. The Paulding County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of one of their K-9s, Major. The 16-year-old dog was responsible for several felony apprehensions and narcotics seizures throughout his career. "Major was one of the most fun and strongest dogs I ever had the privilege to work alongside," said Major Billy Hurst. "Law enforcement canines live their lives to serve the communities they work for; K-9 Major was the epitome of this. He will be sorely missed by us all.” Major will have his name, birth year, and death year inscribed in the K-9 Memorial in front of the sheriff’s office.
