Burnt Body Found In Paulding Car Fire

Reports say the body was so badly burnt authorities couldn't tell the sex of the victim.

PAULDING COUNTY, GA β€” Officials are investigating a car fire in which first responders found a burnt body, according to reports. The car fire in rural Paulding County was discovered early Monday morning.

FOX5 reported a deputy as saying the car was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived after being told of the fire around 12:50 a.m. Monday. "[T]he vehicle was on fire visibly when they arrived and was fully engulfed. Once they put the fire out, they discovered the body inside," Deputy Tyler McSwain said, according to the report.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the victim's remains were sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab for an autopsy.

The remains were so badly burnt that authorities couldn't immediately identify whether the victim was a man or a woman, the FOX5 report said.
