Here are the top five stories in Dallas-Hiram today:

  1. The "Cars for K9s" Car Show and Community Festival will be happening this Saturday, Jun. 25, at the Hardy Chevrolet Buick GMC in Dallas. The festival is free to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and includes family-friendly activities. Funds that are raised during the festival will benefit the Paulding County Sheriff K9 Memorial Fund and other local police K9 units in immediate need! (Honoring-Heroes.org)
  2. Local student Walter Matthews has been named No. 79 of America's top 100 high school football players in the Class of 2024. The rising junior, who plays tight end for Hiram High School, is one of just 18 Georgia-based students on the list and the only one from the Dallas-Hiram area. Matthews is currently uncommitted to a school to continue his football career after high school. (High School Football America)
  3. If you have a college-bound student at home, you won't want to miss the Dallas Public Library's upcoming College Planning 101 program on Jul 9. Hosted by The Princess Academy, this free event is designed for local female high school students who want to better understand the college planning process.   4. A Paulding County senior recently received the 2022 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Cup. Luke Leathers received the AJC Cup on Saturday, May 28, continuing one of the oldest news organization award programs in the country. The prestigious award is chosen by faculty and staff for the best all-around seniors who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, community service, and extra- curricular involvement.
