With over 6 million companion animals taken in each year by adoption agencies nationwide, and only half of all shelter animals adopted each year, there is a great need for families to adopt pets from local shelters. Those who are not able to commit to year-round pet care may also consider fostering pets until they are placed in permanent homes. (Patch Pets)
