  1. The City of Hiram has shared candidate qualifying information for the 2023 Municipal Election. The election will be held on Nov. 7, 2023, and is for Mayor, Council Post 1, and Council Post 2 positions. The qualifying fee for Mayor candidates is $300 and $150 for Councilperson candidates.   3. On Saturday, the Paulding Lady Panthers won the Green Meadows Conference Eighth Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Championship at Paulding High School! The team finished their season with an impressive 17-2 season after winning 36-29 over Fairview. With 18 points, Kayleigh Dunham led the way along with Tori Schlatter who added eight markers.   4. In case you missed it: The Paulding County School District will be hosting a Resource Fair on Feb. 16 for parents and guardians of students with special needs. The fair will feature a meet and greet, a services fair provided by the Paulding Student Services team, and more. During the event, a sensory area will be available to children with disabilities. The event will take place at the Paulding County Community Center/Senior Center from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. (Paulding County School District)
  5. For the first time, a Georgia judicial watchdog agency is recommending that a state appellate court judge be removed. Judge Christian Coomer of nearby Cartersville has been on voluntary suspension since the beginning of the year with pay due to multiple ethics violations that were made public. After seven days of hearings, a three-member panel appointed by The Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission (JQD) has made its nonbinding recommendation; now Georgia Supreme Court has the final say.
