Dallas Truck Driver Pulled from Fiery Interstate Wreck

He reportedly overturned his rig on I-75 in Monroe County Sunday morning.

A truck driver from Dallas was pulled from a fiery wreck that clogged interstate 75 north of Macon Sunday.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook Christopher Fryer of Dallas was taken to a Macon hospital after he apparently overturned his refrigerated tractor trailer on I-75 northbound near the Pate Road overpass around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

The sheriff’s office said a Toyota Venza then struck the tractor trailer, and the driver and his passenger were able to pull Fryer from the cab. They were not injured in the wreck.

The refrigerated trailer, which was not loaded, caught fire under the Pate Road overpass, and the extreme heat caused the overpass to crack, with pieces falling onto the interstate.

The sheriff’s office said it may be weeks before the overpass is re-opened.
