Gov. Nathan Deal on Friday appointed Paulding County Commission Chair David A. Austin to the board that works to increase access to higher education for Georgians.
Austin will serve on the Board of Commissioners of the Georgia Student Finance Commission
He and other commissioners will be responsible for establishing "standards, regulations and policies for the operation of the commission," according to a description on the board's website. Board members serve terms of six years.

Austin has chaired the Paulding County Board of Commissioners since January 2009.
