Death Of Dallas Motorcyclist Leads To Vehicular Homicide Charge

Police said Saundria Duncan was turning left on Austell Road when she struck Steven Winiarczyk on his motorcycle.

MARIETTA, GA — A Marietta woman was charged with vehicular homicide after an April accident that killed a Dallas, Georgia, motorcyclist.

Saundria Duncan, 36, turned herself in Wednesday after a warrant was issued for her arrest, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Duncan was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield after she hit Steven Winiarczyk, 47, on April 17 while turning into Milford Crossing Shopping Center on Austell Road.

Cobb County Police said that Duncan was driving her Dodge Charger south on Austell Road, while Winiarczyk was traveling north on his Honda motorcycle. When Duncan tried to turn into the shopping center, she hit Winiarczyk’s motorcycle, throwing him onto the road.

According to authorities, Winiarczyk was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he died the next day. Duncan was not injured.

Duncan was released Thursday from the Cobb County jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
