- A Paulding County woman accused of murdering three of her children in a house fire was indicted by a grand jury on Wednesday. 40-year-old Darlene Brister was arrested Jun. 24 after first responders to the house fire allegedly witnessed her attempting to stab the children inside their burning home. Prosecutors announced Thursday that they will be seeking the death penalty against Brister. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- Chattahoochee Technical College has announced that the groundbreaking event for its Aviation Training Academy will be held next Friday, Sep. 9, at 9:30 a.m. The training academy will help prepare students for high-demand careers repairing, servicing, and maintaining airframe and power plant systems and components. Members of the public are invited to attend the groundbreaking celebration at 570 Airport Parkway in Dallas. (The Dallas New Era)
- The City of Hiram advises community members to exercise caution today, Sep. 3, while driving around Ben Hill Strickland Sr. Memorial Park. A private event will take place from 7:00-11:00 p.m., increasing the amount of pedestrian foot traffic in the area. Motorists are also advised that there may be traffic delays in the area during this time. (City of Hiram via Facebook)
- Paulding County officials are seeking the public's input on suggested improvements for the US 278 Corridor. Your feedback will directly impact plans for potential roadway expansion, intersection improvements, alternative routes, safety operations, and more. - The City of Dallas has officially appointed Shannon Gordon as the city's Main Street Manager, a newly added position to the Business Development office. The Dallas native and Kennesaw State University graduate will help implement the city's Livable Centers Initiative plan for areas in the Main Street District. The City of Dallas began the process of becoming a designated Main Street in 2020 and hopes to become a designated affiliate program for the Georgia Main Street Program by next year.
