East Paulding Rolls into Playoffs

The Raiders led all the way in snapping Villa Rica’s five-game winning streak, the Carrollton Times-Georgian reported.

The play-in win secured the No. 2 seed from Region 5-AAAA for the Raiders (9-1) as they head into the Georgia High School Association’s AAAA playoffs next week.

The Raiders will be home against Region 6-AAAA’s third-seeded team, 8-2 Southwest DeKalb, in the first round.

With a win, East Paulding will play either undefeated Northgate on the road or 7-3 North Clayton at home.

The rest of Paulding County’s teams saw their seasons end Friday night:

• beat , 21-19, to end the year 4-6. The Tigers failed on a two-point conversion that would have tied the score at the end of the game, the Douglas County Sentinel reported.
• shut out , 23-0, to end the year 4-6, while the Patriots finished 2-8.
• ended the year on a two-game losing streak and finished 6-4 after being gored by the , 55-21. The Spartans trailed 49-0 at halftime, the Marietta Daily Journal said.
