Here are the top stories in Dallas-Hiram today:

  1. Looking for family-friendly fun in Paulding County School District (PCSD) this weekend? Here are three events that you can attend to support the talented students of PCSD. On Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., you can catch "Shrek the Musical" or "The Wizard of Oz" at the Dallas Theater, where several PCSD students will be involved in the production. Additionally, on Saturday at 4 p.m., the PCSD Elementary Honor Chorus Concert will take place at the East Paulding High School Theater. Don't miss out on these amazing performances! 2. Georgia senators have passed Senate Bill 92, which would establish a commission to discipline or remove prosecutors who engage in misconduct, with a 32-24 vote. Supporters of the bill argue that it will provide a necessary corrective for district attorneys who pick and choose which laws to enforce, while opponents fear that it could be used to void the will of voters or force prosecutors to pursue undesirable criminal charges. The bill was born from frustrations involving a white Republican prosecutor in Paulding County and has been engulfed in racial and partisan conflict. (WABE)
  3. The editorial board of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution responded to a New York Times op-ed by Maureen Dowd titled, "From Carter to M.T.G.: What a Peach State Plummet," which contrasted the legacies of former President Jimmy Carter and Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. Dowd praised Carter and criticized Greene, prompting the AJC to publish a rebuttal titled "Sorry, New York Times. But you really don’t know Georgia very well." The editorial board took issue with Dowd's suggestion that Georgia was in a "plummet" and argued that the state's political landscape continues to draw attention beyond its borders.
