Fight Leads To Fatal Shooting, Stabbing In Paulding: Police

DALLAS, GA — One man is dead and another is in serious condition after a fight led to a shooting and stabbing in Paulding County Sunday, according to police.

Chad Thomas Boltz, 25, was fatally shot and Jeremy Dawan Weatherspoon, 27, was transported to an Atlanta area hospital where he is in serious condition. Police say they don't believe others were involved in the fight but need the public's help to uncover more information.

Paulding E-911 received a call about a shooting that had just occurred at 37 Mill Lane Dallas, at the Powder Mill Subdivision. Deputies responded to the scene of the shooting and found a dead body with multiple gunshot wounds. The deceased man was identified as Boltz. Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are actively working this case in order to figure out what took place at 37 Mill Lane.

While deputies were enroute, a trooper with the Georgia State Patrol, who was monitoring the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office radio channel, was in the area of the entrance of Powder Mill Subdivision and Marietta Highway, GA 120 E. While in the area, the trooper observed a dark color truck which was driving erratically, which failed to stop at a traffic signal.

Not knowing whether the truck was fleeing the scene of the shooting or an impaired driver, the trooper stopped the vehicle near the entrance road to the Walmart, at 3615 Marietta Highway, Dallas. When the vehicle stopped, a man fell out of the vehicle and was bleeding severely.

The trooper applied pressure to the wound and called for fire/EMS personnel to assist with the scene. It was later determined that the man had been stabbed during an altercation at 37 Mill Lane. The stabbing victim was identified as Weatherspoon.

Thus far, detectives and agents know that there was some type of altercation at the residence and Weatherspoon was stabbed and Boltz was fatally shot. Detectives and agents are interviewing witnesses that were at the home in order to determine what took place at the home early Sunday morning.
