Pence Rallies In Augusta Thursday, Biden In Atlanta Tuesday
On Thursday, Vice President Mike Pence headlined a “Defend the Majority” rally in Augusta supporting Republican Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, both fighting to stay in Congress.
Pence urged the crowd at Augusta Regional Airport to elect both to “hold the line” against Democrats, according to WRDW-TV in Augusta.
“We’re going to keep fighting until every illegal vote is thrown out,” Pence said, as reported by the Augusta TV station. “We will never stop fighting to make America great again.”
Almost every lawsuit filed by allies of President Donald Trump to overturn the results of the Nov. 3 general election has been thrown out of court.
Although most Republican leaders won’t publicly say that Trump lost the election, Perdue himself tacitly admitted it in a video call with members of the Republican Jewish Commission as reported by The Washington Post. “We know what this change of command at the top will mean with our foreign relations,” Perdue said in a recording obtained by the Post.
Next Tuesday, the Democrats will be sending a rock star of their own, President-elect Joe Biden, to Atlanta to drum up support for challengers Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. As of Thursday afternoon, an exact time and location had yet to be announced.
Liberal Voter-Rights Group Launches Attack Ads Against Loeffler, Perdue
Meanwhile, Politico reports that a liberal group, the Voter Protection Project, is paying $1 million to buy TV ads and direct mail supporting Warnock and Ossoff while targeting Republicans and right-leaning independents who watch Fox News. The group is betting it can back the Democratic challengers the same way Biden became the first Democrat to win Georgia since 1992.
Attack ads aimed at Loeffler and Perdue funded by the group already are airing in Georgia. Both claim that the pair made stock trades based on coronavirus information they downplayed to the public, profiting while the general population suffered.
