  3. The Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission unanimously approved the rules for medical marijuana oil testing, inspections, and sales on Wednesday. The use of low-THC cannabis oil to treat various diseases has been legal since 2015, however, regulatory challenges delayed the rollout of legal sales for years. 4. Seventh-grader Sumaya Bell from P.B. Ritch Middle School was named the 2023 Paulding County School District's Spelling Bee Champion! Bell's winning word was "progeny." Next, Bell and seventh-grader runner-up Kate Laster from Austin Middle School will advance to regionals which take place in February. Sammy McClure Middle School Eighth-grader Olivia Slayton is the alternate. (Paulding County School District)
  5. Have you recently bought a Powerball ticket? Check your numbers, because two winners matched four of the five white ball numbers and the Powerball for $50,000 β€” and each ticket had the 2x Powerplay, doubling the earnings, according to the Georgia Lottery website. Wednesday's winning numbers were 9, 17, 20, 38, and 40, and the Powerball was 18. The tickets were sold at Dragon Food Mart in Lindale (about 40 minutes away from the area) and Kountry Corner in Sasser. (WSBTV)
