  1. In case you missed it, the City of Hiram recently released information about candidate qualification for the upcoming General Election on Nov. 7, 2023. The positions of Mayor and two Council posts are up for election this year. Those who wish to run must submit a fee ($300 for Mayor, $150 for Councilmember) and the appropriate qualification paperwork to City Hall. Qualifying dates will be Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, through Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day (except 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.).   2. On Saturday, Mar. 4, the Paulding Chamber of Commerce will host its 62nd Annual Awards Gala at GreyStone Power Headquarters. The event will take place from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. and includes the awards program, a cocktail reception, dinner, a live auction, entertainment, and dancing.   3. Easter is just around the corner, and the City of Dallas wants to make sure your little ones have a fun and exciting holiday! Dallas' Main Street Program has just announced the first annual City of Dallas Egg My Yard fundraiser, which will benefit a grant program for Downtown Dallas. Participants will receive colorful plastic eggs filled with a little surprise, placed outside of any property within the Dallas city limits. Eggs are available in increments of 30 ($25), 50 ($45), or 75 ($60) and will be placed in yards the evening of Apr. 8. Complete this form to participate in the fundraiser. (Downtown Dallas)
  4. What's happening at your local libraries this weekend? Tomorrow (Feb. 18) at Dallas Public Library, there will be a Mini African Drum Making class at 10:00 a.m. in honor of African American Heritage Month, as well as a "Young Adult at Heart" Book Club meeting at 2:00 p.m. Learn more about how to participate in each of these events on the library's website.   5. Take a trip to the magical Land of Oz at the Dallas Theater next month! During the first two weekends in March, the Main Street Teen players will be starring in a stage adaptation of Frank L. Baum's classic "The Wizard of Oz."
