With more than 12 million voter records, GARViS is set to improve the integrity of Georgia’s voting process and ensure that the state’s status as the top state in America for election administration is maintained. - The renaming of Lake Lanier and Buford Dam in Georgia has been paused by federal officials after locals objected to the plan. The pause comes in response to a 2021 federal law governing the renaming of military bases christened for Confederates, including Georgia's Fort Gordon and Fort Benning. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has stated that it will continue to solicit public comment about new names for the lake and dam, but ultimately choosing them is up to Congress.
