(ICYMI) Gulledge, Deputies Assist in Hunt, Capture of Accused Cop Killer

Paulding County Sheriff Gary Gulledge and several of his deputies “answered the call” when help was needed Tuesday in Dublin, Ga., to capture an escaped inmate accused of killing a Georgia sheriff.

PCSO said on Facebook that inmate Jim Edward Lowery escaped from custody in Laurens County Tuesday, and Laurens Sheriff Bill Harrell sent out a request for assistance from other agencies.

Lowery, who was captured after a Georgia State Patrol helicopter located him hiding in the woods, is accused in the June death of Montgomery County Sheriff Ladson O’Connor.

“We will always answer the call to help another law enforcement agency in a time of need, no matter what the situation is,” Gulledge reportedly said.

The Paulding sheriff’s office said hundreds of law enforcement officers from dozens of agencies also answered the call.
