Latest Coronavirus Update For Dallas, Hiram, Paulding County

PAULDING COUNTY, GA — The new coronavirus outbreak in Georgia and across the nation continues to affect Paulding County, where schools are closed for the rest of the academic year and businesses remain shuttered in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths in Georgia continues to rise: 9,156 total on Tuesday evening, 1,899 hospitalized and 348 dead. At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Georgia Department of Public Health reports Fulton County's 1,185 cases are the most of any Georgia locality, with 39 deaths recorded. The highest number of deaths is in Dougherty County, with 56; its total number of cases rank second at 973. The next highest numbers of cases are in DeKalb with 673 cases, Cobb with 566 cases, Gwinnett with 540 cases, Clayton with 278 cases and Hall with 215 cases.

PAULDING COUNTY CORONAVIRUS CASES, DEATHS

Paulding County has tallied 62 coronavirus cases as of Tuesday evening. One Paulding resident has died of coronavirus, a 74-year-old male with underlying health issues.

SCHOOLS

Schools are closed for the remainder of the academic year. No Digital Learning Days will be held in Paulding County during spring break this week. The district will continue to offer Lunch to Go for its students with food pickup on April 15 and April 22, both Wednesdays, with CAYA Ministries filling in the gaps. The City of Dallas has closed all offices and facilities until further notice. For the latest information, visit the city website.

In Hiram, city hall is closed, with essential personnel working remotely. Also, the Hiram City Council meetings set for April 14 have been moved to May 5. Citizens are asked to do business with the city via phone or email. Contact information can be sound on the City of Hiram's website.
