Latest Coronavirus Update For Dallas, Hiram, Paulding County

Here are the latest local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is affecting Dallas, Hiram and Paulding County:

PAULDING COUNTY, GA β€” The new coronavirus outbreak in Georgia and across the nation continues to affect Paulding County, where schools are closed for the rest of the academic year and businesses remain shuttered in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths in Georgia continues to rise: 13,621 total on Monday evening, 2,702 hospitalized and 480 dead. At 6:30 p.m. Monday, the Georgia Department of Public Health reports Fulton County's 1,635 cases are the most of any Georgia locality, with 52 deaths recorded. The highest number of deaths is in Dougherty County, with 78; its total number of cases rank second at 1,245. The next highest numbers of cases are in DeKalb with 1006 cases, Cobb with 816 cases, Gwinnett with 766 cases, Clayton with 396 cases and Hall with 316 cases.

PAULDING COUNTY CORONAVIRUS CASES, DEATHS

Paulding County has reached 100 coronavirus cases as of Monday evening. Four Paulding residents have died of coronavirus, all 64 or older and with underlying health conditions.

Test kits are still in short supply in Georgia, so call your health provider first before visiting the office. MORE

SCHOOLS

Schools are closed for the remainder of the academic year. No Digital Learning Days will be held in Paulding County during spring break this week. The district will continue to offer Lunch to Go for its students with food pickup on April 15 and April 22, both Wednesdays, with CAYA Ministries filling in the gaps. Lunch to Go will not be available on Wednesday, April 8, because of spring break. For more information, visit the Paulding County Schools website.

GOVERNMENT

The City of Dallas has closed all offices and facilities until further notice. For the latest information, visit the city website.

In Hiram, city hall is closed, with essential personnel working remotely. All April and May court dates have been rescheduled as listed here. Also, the Hiram City Council meetings set for April 14 have been moved to May 5. Citizens are asked to do business with the city via phone or email.
