Latest Coronavirus Update For Dallas, Hiram, Paulding County

Here are the latest local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is affecting Dallas, Hiram and Paulding County:

PAULDING COUNTY, GA β€” The new coronavirus outbreak in Georgia and across the nation continues to affect Paulding County, where schools are closed for the rest of the academic year and businesses remain shuttered in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths in Georgia continues to rise: 22,491 total on Friday evening, 4,322 hospitalized and 899 dead. All numbers are roughly twice what they were a week ago.

At 6:30 p.m. Friday, the Georgia Department of Public Health reports Fulton County's 2,500 cases are the most of any Georgia locality, with 91 deaths recorded. The highest number of deaths is in Dougherty County, with 108; its total number of cases rank third at 1,465. The second highest numbers of cases is in DeKalb with 1,721 cases. Gwinnett is fourth with 1,382 cases, Cobb is fifth with 1,368 cases, Hall is sixth with 1,022 cases and Clayton is seventh with 629 cases.

PAULDING COUNTY CORONAVIRUS CASES, DEATHS

Paulding County has tallied 156 coronavirus cases as of Friday evening. Seven Paulding residents have died of coronavirus. All were 64 or older, and all but one had an underlying health condition.

The City of Dallas has closed all offices and facilities until further notice. For the latest information, visit the city website.

In Hiram, city hall is closed, with essential personnel working remotely. All April and May court dates have been rescheduled as listed here. Also, the Hiram City Council meetings set for April 14 have been moved to May 5. Citizens are asked to do business with the city via phone or email.
