Here are the top stories today in the Dallas-Hiram area:

  1. Douglas County Sheriff's Office has increased the reward from $20,000 to $40,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect involved in the shooting death of two teens at a house party last Saturday. The shooting occurred near Sitka Drive, resulting in the deaths of Samuel Moon, 15, and AJ’anaye "AJ" Hill, 14, while seven other youths were injured. Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  2. A fatal collision between a Ford F-150 and a semi-truck on Rome Highway in Polk County left a Dallas man dead, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The incident occurred when the F-150 crossed the double yellow line and struck the left front of the semi-truck traveling in the opposite direction. Although the driver of the F-150 has not been named yet, he died on the scene, while the driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries. (Northwest Georgia News)

  4. The Georgia Senate has passed the Lemonade Stand Act, which permits children under 18 to sell non-consumable goods, pre-packaged food and non-alcoholic drinks without obtaining a permit or license. The bill also exempts them from paying taxes if their revenues do not exceed $5,000 in a year. The legislation aims to encourage entrepreneurship and foster a culture of creativity and innovation among young children, who have been hampered by unnecessary regulations and taxes in the past.
