  1. Police are still looking for the public's help in identifying a man who left kittens outside a Hiram Dunkin’ Donuts on New Year's Eve. Police say an unknown man believed to be driving a Ford Mustang left a pet carrier with four kittens outside of the store on 4470 Jimmy Lee Smith Pkwy. The kittens, who appeared to be well-taken care of, were sent to animal control. Anyone with information or leads should contact the Hiram police department at 770-943-3087 ext. 2011. (WSBTV 2)
  2. Last week, members of a local Facebook page called Paulding County Uncensored shared experiences that pointed to a potential data hack of the Chick-Fil-A mobile app. Now, the fast food chain is investigating these claims to determine whether hackers actually gained access to nearly 9,000 customer credit card numbers to make fraudulent purchases at its locations. So far, the fraudulent activity has been limited to Georgia, but Chick-fil-A advised its customers to call 1-866-232-2040 or contact Chick-fil-A Cares online if they notice or suspect any unusual activity. 3. At the end of the month, the City of Hiram is holding a public hearing in the Hiram Municipal Annex (219 Main Street) about the possible rezoning of the property located at 1680 Hiram Douglasville Highway. The City will hear public comments on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 6:00 p.m. to determine whether the property, where Compass Self-Storage is currently located, should be changed from a B2 (Highway Business) zone to I1 (light Industrial). Anyone wishing to comment may attend the hearing or submit written comments to the Hiram City Clerk ahead of the meeting. Residents looking for additional information can contact the Hiram Zoning Administrator at (770) 943 3726 ext. 2004. (City of Hiram via Facebook)

The Paddle-A-Thon encourages Georgians to explore and protect the Peach State’s extensive river system throughout the year and compete for prizes in categories such as most trash removed, most miles paddled, and most miles paddled with a pet. In addition to these category prizes and the $1,000 grand prize Cedar Creek gift certificate, there will be additional prizes given to the top 10 individuals that raise the most money for the protection of the river systems between now and Sep. 6.
