No Charges In Hiram Home Depot Shooting
No charges have been filed in the Friday shooting that happened in the Hiram Home Depot Garden Center during a fight between neighbors.
HIRAM, GA -- No charges have been filed in the Friday shooting that happened in the Hiram Home Depot Garden Center during a fight between neighbors, according to the Paulding County Sheriff's Office. The man, shot in the torso, was transported to Kennestone Hospital; and is in critical condition.
Neither the shooter nor the man shot are being identified by police yet.
Officers arrived, at approximately 8:47 a.m., after a shooting occurred inside the big box store, located at 145 Depot Drive Hiram.

Detectives spoke with the witnesses, Home Depot employees, as well as the man shot and the shooter to try to determine what took place. Police said the man shot and the shooter both knew each other because they are neighbors and that they have had disagreements in the past. They coincidently ran into each other at The Home Depot Friday morning and that is when a verbal argument began.

The verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation which led to the eventual shooter being physically assaulted. As a result of the altercation and the shooter said he felt threatened, he shot his pistol at his neighbor. The man shot was able to get to the Customer Service Center to have someone call 911. Both the shooter and the the man shot stayed on scene and were cooperative with detectives, police said.
This is an open and active investigation and will continue into the coming days, police said.
