North Paulding High Schooler Hit By Car While Walking Across Campus, Hospitalized
Officials confirmed a North Paulding High School student is in the hospital after she was hit by a car on school grounds Tuesday.
PAULDING COUNTY, GA — A North Paulding High School student is in the hospital after being hit by a car while leaving campus Tuesday, the Paulding County Sheriff's Office confirmed.
Around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, a female student, whose name has not been released, was struck by a car while walking across an access road on the NPHS campus using a crosswalk, Georgia State Patrol said. GSP is investigating the incident and said she was in critical condition at the time she was taken to the hospital, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.
She was taken to a local hospital and PCSO is unsure of her condition now, a spokesperson for the department told Patch in an email Wednesday morning.

NPHS Principal Gabe Carmona sent out the following email to parents Tuesday night:
"It is with a heavy heart that I share news of an incident that occurred this afternoon in front of the field house following dismissal. One of our students was struck by a car and seriously injured. You may see news reports of this unfortunate event. Our school is a tight-knit community and I am sharing this information so that all of our thoughts and prayers can be dedicated to the families involved. I also want you to know that we will have counselors on hand at the school tomorrow for any students or staff who need assistance. Please keep these families in your prayers during this difficult time."

It's unclear if any charges will be brought in the incident. The GSP Troop A Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is conducting a follow-up investigation as of Wednesday morning.
