Outdoor Burn Ban Lifted In Dallas, Hiram, Paulding County

PAULDING COUNTY, GA —The Paulding County Fire Department has updated regulations for outdoor burning in accordance with changes to the state outdoor burn notification system (Senate Bill 119- O.C.G.A. 12-6-90).

Outdoor burning is allowed in Paulding County between the months of October and April. The outdoor burn ban affects 54 Georgia counties, including Paulding. The law no longer requires one to inform the Georgia Forestry Commission online or by phone about their intention to burn leaf piles and yard debris.

Outdoor burning is still prohibited when humidity is less than 25 percent or winds are greater than 10 mph. It is incumbent upon anyone wishing to burn to check the local weather forecast to ensure that predicted weather is within these parameters.

Permits are not required for yard debris fires or recreational fire; however, they are required for bonfires, land clearing or large yard waste fires.

Paulding County Fire would like to remind residents of these important precautions for burning outdoors:

• Burning is allowed daily unless deemed unsafe by the Paulding County Fire Department. Before burning, call the Burn Line at 770-505-2876 to determine if burning is prohibited.
• Burning may only occur between 10 a.m. and one hour before sunset.
• Only naturally fallen debris may be burned in a pile no larger than 6 feet in diameter and 2 feet high. No more than two piles may be burning at a time.
• There must be at least 25 feet between the fire and woodlands or the fire and a property line.
• There must be 50 feet between the fire and structures.
