Here are the top five stories in Dallas-Hiram today:

  1. This Saturday, Sep. 10, young women from around the state will compete at East Paulding High School for the new title of Miss Northwest and Miss Northwest Georgia's Outstanding Teen 2023. The organization is a preliminary for the Miss Georgia and Miss America organizations, the largest providers of scholarships to women in the world. Several local businesses, including Mary's Flowers of Dallas and Pat's Apparel of Hiram, will be providing supplies to make the evening extraordinary. (The Dallas New Era)
  2. The Dallas Markets is currently seeking proposals for Structural and MEP engineering. Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in helping develop projects in Downtown Dallas.   3. Head down to Main Street in Dallas next Friday, Sep. 16, for the Annual Night of Worship, a free concert event. Performances will include Josh Baldwin from Bethel Music, Vertical Worship, and members of West Ridge Church.   4. There's still time to register for Youth Basketball through the Paulding County Parks and Recreation Department! Season practice will begin the week of Nov. 14, and players ages 5-17 can register until Oct. 28. Applications for volunteer coaches are also open and will be considered through Nov. 3.
