HIRAM, GA — Children in need in Paulding County who may not normally get to celebrate the Christmas holiday with gifts will now have a chance to experience the joy of opening gifts on Christmas morning.

Through its yearly calendar advertisement sales, the Hiram Police Department collected $3,120 through "the generosity of local businesses," according to a news release. The money raised became "Mary's Gift," in honor of the daughter of longtime HPD employee Nora Gibboney.

In remembrance of Mary, the money was donated to Boys & Girls Club of Paulding County to provide Christmas gifts for children in need.
