Here are the top five stories in Dallas-Hiram today:

  1. The Fourth of July may be over, but patriotic celebrations in Paulding County will continue into this weekend. This Saturday, Jul. 9, the Paulding County Chamber of Commerce's Main Street Patriotic Parade will kick off at 10:00 a.m. in downtown Dallas. Food trucks, live music, and vendors will be on the Square in Dallas following the parade. (Paulding County Chamber of Commerce via Facebook)
  2. Paulding County commissioners have voted to approve a road resurfacing contract calling for more than $3.5 million in work this year. The contract with Gerken Paving, Inc., Napoleon includes three separate proposals that call for repaving segments of County Road 133, Township Road 156, and more. During the meeting, the commissioners also opened bids on the construction of new fiber-optics in Paulding Township. (The Crescent-News)
  3. This Friday, Jul. 8, the Paulding Senior Center is hosting an evening of live music and dancing. Building doors open at 7:00 p.m., and live music will be played from 7:30-10:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and dance the night away. (Downtown Dallas Georgia Events via Facebook)
  4. The Hiram High School Band of Gold's Hiram Wind Symphony has been selected to perform at the 50th Annual Southeastern United States Band Clinic. The clinic will be held at Troy University in February of 2023. The Hiram Wind Symphony will perform on Feb. 2 or Feb. 3. (Hiram High School via Facebook)
  5. A restaurant in nearby Cartersville was ranked as one of the year's Most-Loved All-Star Restaurants by Doordash. OEC Chinese Restaurant, known for its authentic Chinese cuisine and located at 959 Joe Frank Harris Parkway, was one of 100 top-rated eateries to make the list. According to Doordash, fewer than 1 percent of all restaurants on the food delivery platform qualify. (Dallas-Hiram Patch)
