Paulding Grandkids Donate Gift Money to Cops for Kids
The kids decided to give their Christmas gift money to the program that takes less-fortunate children on a holiday shopping spree.

On Tuesday Nov. 3, Sheriff Gary Gulledge had some special vistors come by the Sheriff’s Office.
John Dean brought several of his grandchildren (Devin Provost, Aubrey Crum, Ryan Coggins, and Emma Coggins) to see Sheriff Gulledege and to donate $500 to the Cops for Kids Christmas shopping fund.

What is remarkable about this donation is that the donors are all youth who live in Paulding County.
What is even more remarkable is the story that led up to their donation.

In 2014, John Dean had two of his grandchildren and their family lose everything they owned in a tragic house fire. Dean knew he wanted to do something to help.
After the fire, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Cops for Kids program stepped in and helped make those children’s Christmas possible.
Dean stated that he and his family were so overwhelmed by the support of our program that they were in awe. He explained he gives each of his nine grandchildren $50 for Christmas every year.
Without any prompting, all of the grandchildren decided to donate their Christmas money to the Cops for Kids program. They rounded the total up and gave $500 to Cops for Kids.
“I am taken aback by the generosity of these children and this family,” Gulledge said. “This is what Cops for Kids is all about and I am certainly glad to be a part of it.”
The donation will help take other less-fortunate children in Paulding County shopping this Christmas. Cops for Kids was started in 1998 and took 20 children shopping, and has grown to around 200 children this year.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 7 a.m. at the Walmart on Marietta Highway
