Paulding Schools Make Decision On Tuesday Classes
BREAKING: A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Fulton County, metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

PAULDING COUNTY, GA β Due to the possibility of inclement weather all Paulding County schools and district offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 29th for students and staff. All classes and after-school activities for Tuesday have been canceled. The district will continue to monitor weather developments, and any decisions regarding Wednesdayβs status will be announced Tuesday evening.
Since Gov. Brian Kemp has announced state government offices will close Tuesday, Jan. 29 due to winter weather expected to move into the Georgia, the Fulton County School System said it will follow suit and shut down operations for that day.
"The governor has closed all state offices for Tuesday, Jan. 29, based on a winter storm watch," the school system said on its Facebook page. "Given the risk associated with ice, the timing of a potential event, and the impact it may have on traffic, the weather team erred on the side of safety in closing Fulton County Schools and all administrative offices (for) Tuesday, January 29, 2019."

Atlanta Public Schools has also announced it will close up shop on Tuesday, as a Winter Storm Watch will go into effect from 4 a.m to 10 a.m. Tuesday. Fulton County also noted its operations, which includes its courthouse, will also be closed Tuesday due to the predicted weather. However, "mission-essential personnel" and employees assigned to public safety agencies will report for duty, the county said. Jurors should not report for duty, and they can call the number on their jury summons for more information.

The National Weather Service said up to two inches of snow is expected within the watch area, "with localized higher totals possible in far north GA and higher elevations."
Of course, these snow accumulations will make for dangerous traveling conditions, and black ice is a threat even in areas where snow doesn't stick to the ground, the weather service added.
