- Jason Tyler Scott, 17, ran away from his home earlier this week, and officials are still searching for him. He was last seen wearing dark blue sweatpants, a blue shirt, black Crocs, and a blue jacket near 542 Twin Oaks Lane in Dallas. - State COVID-19 vaccine mandates may be gone for good. In 2022, Georgia lawmakers put a one-year ban on COVID-19 vaccine mandates by schools and most state and local government agencies. The Senate Health and Human Services Committee voted on Wednesday 7-2 to advance Senate Bill 1, which makes the ban permanent, to the full Senate. The current ban will expire on Jun. 30 in the state if lawmakers donβt act. (WSB-TV)
- Signing day at Reinhardt University included multiple Paulding County football players. According to Coach Miller, the new class with 54 athletes has many skilled players, which will add weapons to an already talented roster. The first game is scheduled for Sep. 2 at home against Faulkner University as the team strives to win the Appalachian Athletic Conference again! (Victory Sports Network)
- A Georgia resident won $1 million from a Texas Lottery scratch-off ticket. The Texas Lottery reported a resident in Lyons (who requested to remain anonymous) had claimed the winning million-dollar ticket in the Texas Lottery scratch ticket game "200X Cash Blitz." Overall odds of winning any prize in the game are one in 3.68 million. (CW33 Dallas)
- Fake events are appearing on the Dallas Civic Center's Facebook page. The Dallas City Government warned that fake events had been posted on Facebook asking vendors for money upfront. You can call the Civic Center at 770-445-5180 or email dallastheater@gmail.com with questions regarding an event or if you suspect an event is fake.
