Take a Look At Five Castles in Georgia
These aren't your run-of-the-mill big houses. Here are some Georgia buildings that would look right at home in medieval times.

It's not exactly the Old World.
But Georgia, named for King George III of England, has its share of castles sprinkled throughout the state.
We love that, in a handful of cases, homeowners have forsaken the trellises and two-car garages in favor of guard towers and moats.

Oakhurst Castle

This medieval-styled home in the Decatur neighborhood of Oakhurst got a lot of attention when it was on the market in 2012 for about $600,000. It was built in 1908 and now has plenty of modern amenities, like a garage, but the 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom house still has plenty of Old World charm.

Rhodes Hall
Built in 1904, "The Castle on Peachtree Street" has been home to the Georgia Trust For Historic Preservation since 1983. The Romanesque Revival-style house was built for Amos Rhodes, founder of Rhodes Furniture and was inspired by the Rhineland castles he saw on a trip to Europe in the late 1890s.

Covington Castle
It wasn't built for Ozzy Osbourne. Nor did a British woman bring it over from her home country, brick by brick. It was never the scene of a horrible tragedy and its owner isn't a witch. Yet, all those urban legends have popped up about this castle in Covington, according to its website. Instead, it was begun in 1990 but, due to unforeseen circumstances not finished until 2000 -- giving idle minds lots of room to speculate. It's a private home which, according to its owner, has all the modern amenities inside.

Castlehawk Estate
This is a massive, 12,000 square foot stone castle built on a 70-acre gated estate in the mountain town of Blue Ridge. We didn't notice a moat, but it does have an indoor pool. And it's for sale. Castlehawk could be yours for $2,399,999.

Bisham Manor
Located in Lagrange, Georgia, Bisham Manor was under construction from 1997-2002 and based on the floor plan of a home originally built on the site in 1929-30 (though its size almost doubled in the process). Built in the English Tudor style, the manor is now rented out for weddings and other events.
