- The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently disclosed more information on how Georgia water officials can reduce the presence of harmful PFAS "forever chemicals" in water supplies. According to a map by the Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit organization, no state is entirely unaffected by PFAS contamination, and Georgia has had PFAS contamination in water supplies in 13 cities. The EPA's proposed regulation would limit PFAS chemicals to the lowest level that can be detected by tests, which could save thousands of lives and prevent severe health problems such as cancer.
