Here are the top five stories in Dallas-Hiram today:
- The Paulding County Board of Education recognized outstanding PCSD students and staff at the Oct. 11, 2022 school board meeting. Honorees included members of the color guard as well as individuals with significant accomplishments in character or in the arts. South Paulding High School received special recognition as the School of the Month. (Paulding County School District via Facebook)
- The Paulding County School District band students were featured in the 2022 Marching Band Exhibition. The exhibition was held at North Paulding High School. The PCSD Mass Band was able to play the National Anthem, which the Paulding County School District shared as a recording to their Facebook account. (Paulding County School District via Facebook)
- Paulding County has built a memorial for all of its K-9 Officers outside of the sheriff's office. The unveiling of the stature came two days after the Georgia State Police had a funeral for the recently deceased K-9 officer, Figo. Canines included in the memorial were Babe, Basco, Molly, Rudi, and Chico. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- At their Tuesday night meeting, the Paulding County School District approved the academic calendars for 2023-2024 and 2024-2025. The calendar was shared with the community as part of a questionnaire, receiving the highest number of responses ever. Changes to the calendar include ending school for teachers and students before Memorial Day, aligning breaks with nearby districts, and ten early release days. (Paulding County School District)
- Clue: On Stage, put on by the Main Street Players, is drawing to a close. The show, based on the 1985 movie, which was itself based on the Hasbro board game, will conclude this weekend. For $17 a ticket, show-goers can view the murder mystery tonight (Oct. 14) at 7:30 p.m, tomorrow at 7:00 p.m., or for the final time on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. (Dallas Theater)
