Here are the top five stories today in Dallas and Hiram:
- The Hiram Bar and Grill Restaurant is facing enormous backlash after a viral video showed a Black woman being harassed. The TikTok video shows the woman, who entered the bar in order to play pool, was verbally abused and intimated by a group of white individuals who identified themselves as racists. The video has garnered over 107,000 views as of this writing. The Hiram Bar and Grill has not yet issued a statement on the incident. (REVOLT)
- There are numerous new job listings throughout the Dallas and Hiram area with a wide range of different positions. The Carr Group is looking for part-time and full-time sales representatives, so potential employees can choose the option that works best for them. Meanwhile, Tower Roofing Inc. in Marietta, GA needs an Office Coordinator and Event Representative. There are additional availabilities for Customer Service Professionals, Call Center Agents, and Merchandise Stockers. Click on the link for more information and how to apply. (Dallas-Hiram Patch)
- If you have thoughts about the Paulding County School District Schedule, now's the time to speak out. The School District has released its proposed school calendar for the next two years and is looking for input and suggestions. Interested parties can visit the link to review the calendar and fill out a survey. The survey will be closed on Sep. 28, and the Board of Education will use them to draft a final proposal. The final calendar will be approved on Oct. 11. (Paulding County School District)
- Paulding County is seeking to hire for several full-time positions, including Engineering Division Manager, Firefighter, and Mechanic. There are also part-time jobs available throughout the county. For additional job details and applications, check out the link. (Paulding County)
- The Paulding County Sheriff's Office is reminding people not to advertise that they are away on vacation via social media. With Fall Break this week, plenty of families are excited to share their trips and adventures - but officials caution that not only friends and family keep tabs on your social media accounts. Criminals will often monitor social media for opportunities to rob unattended homes, so save those photos for after your vacation has come to an end. (Paulding County Sheriff's Office)
