Here are the top three stories in Dalton today:
- The City of Dalton has named Jason James as the sole finalist for the city's position of municipal court administrator. James has experience serving as the court administrator for the City of Hiram for the last six years and previously worked for the Oklahoma City Municipal Court five years before that. He now waits for final approval from Dalton's mayor and city council during their regularly scheduled meeting on May 15. (The Chattanoogan)
- On Tuesday, the Dalton High School boys' soccer team won the state quarterfinals 4-3 over Chamblee. Despite playing part of the match with a member down when their keeper was given a red card, the Catamounts managed to pull ahead in the last three minutes. The team will now advance to the semifinals. (WDEF News 12)
- The family of Luis Perez, who passed away due to suicide in December 2021, will be hosting the second annual 5k fundraising walk/run in honor of Perez's memory. The event will be on Sunday, May 7 in the Burr Performing Arts Park here in Dalton. The Laps for Luis committee spokesman said of the event, "We are raising money to assist those with suicidal thoughts or other mental problems, to get help." (Dalton Daily Citizen)
