DECATUR, GA — A Thanksgiving Eve shooting Wednesday injured two officers in DeKalb County, police said.
The shooting happened around 11:15 a.m. in the 17000 block of Waldrop Cove near Panthersville Road, police said.

The mother told officers her son had been behaving aggressively and was causing a dispute with her and another person, police said.
Officers then went into the home and tried to approach the man at his bedroom door. But, police said the man shot at the officers and injured them in their lower bodies — one in his leg and one in her foot.

The officer who was shot in the leg continued to chase the suspect, who had jumped out of a window, and the man was taken into custody, police said. The suspect was not identified.
Police said they are grateful that their officers are OK. They are both conscious and alert, police said.
"We thank God for their safety, and most importantly, we thank God for their service," CEO Michael Thurmond said at a news conference.
Gov. Brian Kemp has personally called to check on the well-being of the officers, police said.
Police are hopeful the officers will be able to be home with their families for Thanksgiving, they said.
