Good morning, Decatur and Avondale Estates. Friday the 13th may be unlucky for some people, but there are some good things happening that you should know about.
1. Weather: High temp around 86, low near 71 and a 50 percent chance of rain. It should warm up a little on Saturday and Sunday.
2. Deadline to appeal tax appraisal. Today is your last chance to file an appeal of your DeKalb County property tax appraisal. You can find a lot of information about this online, including the official DeKalb County website.

3. Child seat safety checks. The Decatur Fire Department and Georgia Traffic Injury Prevention Institute will check car seats 9-11 a.m. Friday, July 13, at the Walmart at 3580 Memorial Drive.
Anybody who dresses like a cow on Friday will receive a free meal at the fast-food restaurant.

5. In-store performance at . The John Byrne Band will play at 8 p.m. Saturday, with the shop providing some craft beer while you listen. Byrne will be a busy guy that day, with performances at 4 and 10 p.m. at Mac McGee Irish Pub on the Decatur Square.
