5 Things to Know Today: July 25, 2012

City Schools of Decatur staff will hoot and holler at the DHS Performing Arts Center.

Good morning, Decatur and Avondale Estates. Here are 5 Things to know about today.

1. Weather. High temps in the mid-90s, lows in the mid-70s, chance of rain 20-30 percent.

2. Pep rally for CSD staff. City Schools of Decatur employees will get together at the Decatur High Performing Arts Center at 9:30 a.m. to kick off the school year. For students, classes start Aug. 1.

3. If the kids need entertaining, take them to see Martin Scorcese's "Hugo at 1:30 p.m. at the Decatur Library. This movie, a love note to early movie makers, is great for adults, too.

4. . Collin Kelley, an Atlanta poet and novelist, will lead a program featuring two local professors who are poets themselves, Amy Pence and Jenny Sadre-Orafai. The program starts at 7:15 p.m. at the Decatur Library. Free.
