Missing Decatur Man With Dementia Found Safe

DECATUR, GA — Venick Tanner has been found safe, DeKalb police said in an email at 12:34 p.m. Monday.

An older DeKalb man with dementia is missing, and DeKalb County police need the public’s help in the search for him.

Venick Tanner, 91, walked away from The Regency House — located at 341 Winn Way in Decatur — around 2 a.m. Sunday, and he hasn’t been seen since, DeKalb police spokesperson Michaela Vincent said. Tanner is described as a Black male, approximately 5’ 9” tall and roughly 120 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

Police said it’s unknown what Tanner was wearing when he wandered away from the retirement community, but they said he always wears a blue baseball cap.
