- According to reports, one puppy is dead, two in critical condition and expected to recover, and six more are said to be OK. The Decatur Police Department reported that nine puppies were abandoned overnight at the Glenlake Dog Park in Decatur. Authorities said the puppies are very sweet and in need of great homes. January's adoptions are only $23 at any LifeLine location. Those interested in caring for any of the little pups can contact Lifeline Animal Project at 404-294-2996. The Criminal Investigations Unit is asking for anyone with information on this case to contact the Decatur Police Department at 404-373-6551. (WSB Atlanta)
- The gun used by 26-year-old Manuel Esteban Paez Teran, the activist who was shot and killed after shooting first and injuring a trooper, was reportedly bought legally by Teran in 2020. District Attorney Sherry Boston has requested that the state appoint an independent prosecuting agency to handle this case due to her office's connection in the multi-jurisdictional task force at the Atlanta Public Training Facility. Teran was shot and killed in a tent located in the woods which officers were attempting to clear out, according to the GBI. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- The DeKalb County Board of Health is scheduled to have its regularly scheduled meeting via teleconference today at 3 p.m. The public may access the video conference through Zoom.
