- Agnes Scott College, one of Georgia's all-women colleges, recently received a lengthy grant from NASA. The grant in its totality is nearly $750,000. The purpose of the grant is to promote women's pursuit of careers in STEM. The targeted careers are careers with a focus on science, math, and technology. (13WMAZ.com)
- Lester Jolly, a former Walmart employee from Decatur, has been arrested and charged with unlawful eavesdropping. According to the complaint, the incidents took place at the Walmart located on Memorial Drive during the months of January, February, and March of this year. (Atlanta News First)
- Dr. Gyimah Whitaker was sworn in as the new superintendent of CSD on June 13. She gave a summary of tasks she will take on during her first 100 days as superintendent. Her start date is scheduled for July 1. There were 34 other applicants. The application process ended last year on Dec. 18 of last year. Whitaker's contract was approved in April of 2023.
