All Lanes Of I-20 Westbound Open After Road Buckle

All lanes of Interstate I-20 have re-opened after interstate buckled the day before.

ATLANTA, GA -- All lanes of Interstate 20 westbound in DeKalb County have opened Tuesday morning after a part of the road buckled the day before.

Road crews worked throughout the night to fix the pavement, including digging up a section of it. A huge piece of the road on the inside lane of I-20 westbound buckled upward Monday due to an apparent gas leak underground, officials said.

"All lanes of Interstate I-20 Westbound were reopened by the Georgia Department of Transportation at approximately 6:30 a.m. today," DeKalb County officials said Tuesday.

The incident snarled traffic during the evening rush hour as firefighters and police had to send drivers already on that section of the highway onto nearby Flat Shoals Road and told others to avoid the area.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclists is suffering from a serious head injury after he apparently hit the road buckle Monday.
