  1. You may need to put the order of chicken sandwiches on hold. The North Druid Hills Chick-fil-A, located at 2340 N. Druid Hills Road, is closed until Jan. 29. According to a Facebook post from the restaurant chain, remodeling improvements will be done to its drive-thru and dining room areas during the temporary closing. They apologized for the inconvenience and stated that their team can’t wait to see you when they reopen on Jan. 30. (Facebook post) (Decaturish.com)
  2. The theme of this year’s 21st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Parade on Monday, Jan. 16 is “Sound The Alarm." The NAACP DeKalb County Branch is sponsoring the parade and mentioned that there is still work to be done in our community. The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. at Green Pastures Christian Church, 5455 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur, and will end at Martin Luther King Jr. High School. (On Common Ground News)
  3. A partner in the East Decatur Station mixed-use project is Smith Ace Hardware's registered agent. The hardware store is located at 601 E. College Ave. and has been vacant since July 2014. All of its inventory was auctioned off that same month. A demolition permit has been issued for the property, but City Manager Andrea Arnold said that the contractor and owner need to consent. If all goes according to plan, the demolition could take place this month. (Decaturish.com)
  4. Emory University’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is launching a Master in Cardiovascular Perfusion Science program. The program is scheduled to begin in fall of 2023. This type of science is used in order to support machines that are used for the temporary replacement of the heart and/or lung function. The program is designed for those who have a bachelor’s degree in a science or health-related field. Students will be required to complete clinical hours and learning experiences at the new Emory Nursing Learning Center in Decatur. (Emory News Center)
