Every startup begins with a spark. First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta is now accepting applications for the 2026 cohort of its Epiphany program, a faith-based social entrepreneurship incubator supporting startups tackling today’s most pressing challenges. Epiphany is an evergreen initiative that equips entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions to social issues with funding, mentorship, and strategic guidance. If you are an emerging founder with a vision to address societal challenges often overlooked by traditional markets, Epiphany offers the resources needed to help your venture grow. Examples of qualifying ventures include businesses that employ formerly incarcerated individuals or adults with developmental challenges, as well as enterprises offering services such as coding training for refugees or mechanical skills development in low-income communities. Since its launch, Epiphany has awarded nearly half a million dollars in grants and supported multiple successful ventures, including Refuge Coffee Co., PadSplit, and Purposeful Gourmet Foods. Modeled in part after the format of Shark Tank, the program provides early-stage entrepreneurs with capital, mentorship, and access to a network focused on impact areas such as hunger, homelessness, housing, refugee resettlement, racial equity, poverty, healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability. This information comes from Avondale Estates Police Department reports. Burglary victims in Avondale Estates got some of their stuff back. A house in the 3000 block of Kensington Road was broken into between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, through a ground level window, police said. Jewelry and a flat-screen television were taken, along with a grill cover. Police combed the woods around the house and found the television hidden and wrapped up in the grill cover. Evidently the burglars planned to return later and pick up the loot, officers said. Bike stolen. A woman said her 21-speed bike was taken between 8 and 11 a.m. Sept. 3 from the Avondale Community Pool at 51 Dartmouth Road. The bike was valued at $520. Backpack taken. A man said his backpack was stolen from an unlocked vehicle the night of Aug. 31. The vehicle was parked outside a Majestic Circle residence.
