Beech Drive Cave-in Leads To Road Closure In DeKalb

Road will be closed for a few days after collapse damages 36-inch water main, the county says.

DECATUR, GA. -- DeKalb County officials have closed an intersection after a large cave-in at Beech Drive and Memorial Drive, the county said late Tuesday.

The road collapse has damaged a 36-inch water main, which was apparently left vulnerable by contractors installing fiber-optic cables, the county said.

Department of Watershed crew members were assigned to be on hand throughout the night to make sure nobody fell into the cave-in, the county said.
