Bosom Buggies: Two Friends Open Mosquito Business In Decatur
Pals start Mosquito Joe business serving Decatur and East Atlanta.
DECATUR, GA -- Army veteran Andrew Fisher had two objectives when he thought about opening a business: giving back to the community and building something sustainable for himself and others.
"I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur," he told Patch in an email interview. "To be able to have the ability to own something, make the decisions, and provide employment for others in the community has always been attractive to me."
So Fisher and longtime friend Jason OβNeill teamed up to open Mosquito Joe, serving the East Atlanta and Decatur areas.

While the business does not have a brick-and-mortar location now, the service is currently operating as a mobile concept.
Fisher has experience in management and retail loss prevention, while OβNeill, who serves as operations manager, has a background in communications. Together, the duo is intent on making Mosquito Joe a hit in metro Atlanta.

Mosquitos are a natural occurrence in the muggy South. While they don't hit metro Atlanta as bad as some areas that have large bodies of water, the bugs perennially become a nuisance in the later summer months, which is something that Fisher hopes to capitalize on.
"This was a good business opportunity that also provided a great way to help the community prevent the nuisance and disease transmission created by mosquitos," Fisher said.

Mosquito Joe, headquartered in Virginia Beach, Virginia, offers independently owned franchises run by local people who understand firsthand the community's pest problem.
The company offers residential barrier sprays, misting systems and more featuring all-natural products that are EPA-registered.
"Our barrier sprays are a great solution for East Atlanta residents looking to enjoy their yards with their family and friends, as well as many commercial businesses such as restaurants with patios, parks, campgrounds, outdoor pools and playgrounds," Fisher said.
