Here are the top three stories in Decatur-Avondale Estates today:

  1. The city of Avondale Estates will host an open house about its capital projects on Tuesday, Aug. 16. Guests can head to City Hall at 21 N. Avondale Plaza from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to learn about each of the city's eight ongoing projects, which are summarized at the link. Avondale Estates City Manager Patrick Bryant said, "We've got a lot of work, we can't stop, we got to figure out how to do it, and we're doing it, and we're really proud." (Decaturish.com)
  2. On Monday, the Decatur City Commission approved a $200,000 budget to renovate the skate park at McKoy Park. The project was graciously funded by an anonymous donor. Once a plan is developed, the McKoy Park renovations are expected to take about six months. (Decaturish.com)
  3. Singer-songwriter Anna Tivel is headed to Eddie's Attic on Oct. 14. The Decatur stop is one of many as Tivel tours across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. The musician's upcoming album, Outsiders, is slated to release on Aug. 19. (Guitar Girl Mag)
