- Amplify My Community, organizer of the Amplify Decatur Music Festival, has made an announcement that it is expanding this year's event to four days of musical events. The event will be on and near Decatur Square. The scheduled time begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29 on the Decatur Square. The scheduled performers are St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Patty Griffin, James McMurtry, and more. (https://patch.com/georgia/deca...)
- The MARTA Police Department is scheduled to host a hiring event today, April 22, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the MARTA Police Headquarters, located at 2400 Piedmont Road NE. MARTA is considering hiring police officers, dispatchers, call takers, and protective specialists. The agency will provide all uniforms and equipment necessary for each position and offers benefits and opportunities for advancement. "The company offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus for all lateral certified police officers and dispatchers and a $3,000 sign-on bonus for non-certified personnel for those agreeing to serve three years with MPD. The department also offers a $5,000 tuition reimbursement for employees taking career-related classes, a $6,000 shift and weekend differential bonus, and coverage of monthly Georgia Peace Officer Annuity Benefit Fund payments." - Cheryl Watson-Harris has a new job with Achieve Atlanta. She will lead the organization as its new president and executive director. Achieve Atlanta is a local nonprofit that supports Atlanta Public School students. Harris has impressed those within her new position, it's been said that her career as an educator will be a perfect fit in Atlanta. Harris is scheduled to begin her new role in May. It's been a year since Harris was fired from DeKalb County School Board. (https://patch.com/georgia/deca... )
