- Today, Aug. 9, the City Schools of Decatur School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. for its regular meeting to consider adopting a budget amendment to cover the cost of 13 staff positions. The decision will also be made about the costs associated with "position enhancements for employees who were promoted or compensated for upper-level responsibilities." The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom and in-person at the Wilson School Support Center located at 125 Electric Ave. (Decaturish.com )
- Be on the lookout! DeKalb County property tax bills are arriving this month — some in the mail, some digitally. These property taxes are set by the county's millage rate, voted upon by local officials. Due to the rise in property taxes, some homeowners could see a rise in their taxes this year. Thankfully, DeKalb County has a tax relief strategy for homeowners. - DeKalb Brilliance Academy has opened its doors in Decatur. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the tuition-free, public charter school was held on Jul. 22 and school will begin soon for the 2022-2023 school year.
